PKP Ty2 1298/1398
By 2001, Wolstyn had become the assembly point for locomotive from other closed skansen sites, and Ty2 1398 had been placed amongst other locomotives, out of us in the goods yard area.
There never seems to have been a Ty2 1398 amongst the batch of 200 BR52s transferred from the USSR to Poalnd in January 1963 at Chernyakhovsk, and it is understood that the locomotive is really Ty2 1298. Operating from Jaworzyna in the mid 1980s and Wolstyn in the early 1990s, it was transferred from Gniezno to the skansen at Choszczno where it was restored and given numberplates for Ty2 1398. the cloure of Choszczno led to its return to Wolstyn.Formerly 52 3286 (built by Jung 11297 of 1944)

The difficulty in tracing the origins of Polish Ty2s is well illustrated by this loco, carrying incorrect number plates, German railway castings on the tender axleboxes, and incomplete worksplates on the cylinders.
Thanks to Piotr Rogozinska in tracking down this history.
